GETTING HERE & LOCAL TRANS'PORTATION

GETTING HERE

Local marinas host visitors arriving via pleasure craft.
No matter how you arrive, you are sure to want to stay awhile

Conveniently located in the heart of central Vancouver Island, Port Alberni is easily accessible via road, air or water. The city's main artery, Highway 4 has  recently been upgraded to provide reliable,  safe highway access in all-seasons.

Charter bus services are available for team transportation and local transit services provide scheduled, reliable transport to many area sports and recreational venues.

The Port Alberni Airport authority operates a regional airport for charter flights which can be arranged to access more remote locales.

Area marinas provide safe haven for those lucky visitors arriving via pleasure craft.

BY ROAD:  Getting here is half the fun! If you're arriving from the lower mainland or from the south end of Vancouver Island, take the Inland Island Highway north out of Nanaimo. Turn left at the Port Alberni access (Hwy. 4), past  Parksville. The 84-kilometre trip takes about one hour but expect to make a stop en route at MacMillan Cathedral Grove Provincial Park to experience the spectacular ancient cedars and old growth conifers in the island's unique west coast rainforest

From Campbell River in the north, take the Island Highway south and stay on the highway to the Port Alberni turnoff, just south of Parksville. The 148 kilometre trip will take approximately 2 hours via the scenic splendour of central Vancouver Island.
